In 2016, too, Gabicce Mare won the eminent reward "Blue Flag" for the 24nd consecutive year.

This initiative rewards those cities whose bathing water quality is excellent. As in the previous editions, a lot of importance has been given to activities addressing environmental education and land use management carried out by local councils in order to preserve the environment and, at the same time, to promote a sustainable form of tourism.

Thus, some indicators such as the existence and functioning level of purification plants; waste management, with particular regard to production decreasing, recycling and hazardous waste management; the initiatives promoted by local councils in order to reach a better quality of life during the summer; the promotion of the naturalistic areas in the territory; urban enhancement and beaches maintenance; the possibility of sea access for everyone without any restrictions have been taken into account.
